The American Pushbiker Bobby Lea has secured shortly before his departure to Rio, where he will compete for the USA the Omnium track race, four gold medals at the national championships. In Omnium, in the individual pursuit, the points race and Madison Lea was unbeatable.
It was the last tryout for the Maloja Pushbiker Bobby Lea before his big highlight this year: the Olympic Games in Rio. For the third time Lea is American Olympian. At the national railway championships in Trexlertown Lea showed that his preparations are running perfectly and he was rightly nominated for the Games. Both in the individual pursuit, the points race and the Madison, where he started with Zak Kovalcic from Pittsburgh, as well as the Omnium, which has its main discipline in recent years, Lea could win the gold medal. “It’s a good feeling to know that you are in a good shape. For that I have worked hard and now I hope that the legs will be also good in Rio, “says Lea, who has trained up to three times a day in the preparation phase.
After two third places at World Cups in Omnium in season 2014/15, Bobby Lea expects also a medal for the Olympics. “My dream is a medal of course – but everything has to fit. The day form has to be right over two days and you cannot afford to make a mistake, “said Lea.
The Omnium with the disciplines Scratch, Individual Pursuit, Elimination, 4000m individual pursuit, flying lap and points race will be held on 14th and 15th August. Not only the Americans but also his fans in Europe and all Pushbikers will keep their fingers cross – GO BOBBY!
